POSITION SUMMARY:
Part-Time Choir Director for Blue Ridge Methodist Church. This person will work with the Pastor, Choir, Praise Team, Worship Committee, and church staff to plan and direct music that will actively engage the congregation in worship.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Pastor, in conjunction with the Staff/Parish Relations Committee
POSITION DUTIES:
· Primary administrator of the choir ministry Blue Ridge Methodist Church.
· Responsible for the planning, organizing, conducting, and leadership of a music ministry that provides a blend of hymns and contemporary music.
· Select and coordinate choir and congregational music at all worship services including any vocal and/or instrumental performances. Work with the Pastor, Praise Lead Leader, and Worship Committee in planning and implementation of both in-person and online services providing weekly song lyrics for overhead screens to the Audio-Visual Team, and support to Media or Communications Team as needed.
· Possibly provide musical planning, accompaniment, or singing for services, such as weddings, and funerals as requested by family.
· Organizes and directs the Church Choir. Maintains regular choir rehearsal (1 hour) and communicates order of service and weekly plans with choir members via email, phone, and/or text. Communicate prayer concerns and needs of choir members to others. Be a spiritual leader.
· Recruit and encourage musicians, both vocal and instrumental, within the congregation and promote the music program.
· Select and purchase choir music if needed and within budget.
· Plan music for weekly worship services, special occasions, and holidays, including Easter, Maundy Thursday, Communion, Advent, Christmas, Revival, etc.
· Catalog and organize all music resources and oversee the care and upkeep of all instruments.
· Be an active participant of the Worship Committee.
· Assist the Pastor with other ministry projects as needed.
· Offer suggestions and observations that would improve BRMC’s music ministry.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
· A degree with a music major or minor in music education or music performance; equivalent experience and knowledge can be substituted in lieu of this educational requirement.
· Training and experience in music and the ability to lead congregational singing and perform various styles of music.
· Enthusiastic, positive, and organized. Excellent personal communication skills are essential.
· Possess good time management skills by being on time for practices, meetings, and church services, along with effective use of practice times.
· Willingness to cooperate closely with staff and to support the Pastor and all programs and ministries of the church.
POSITION TITLE:
Part-Time Nursery Assistant
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide a loving, safe, and Christ-like environment for children in the Nursery (infant – 3 years old) on Sunday mornings (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) and if available during special occasions, such as Maundy Thursday, Easter, and Christmas Eve services. This part-time position will assist the Children’s Ministry Coordinators and support the ministry of Blue Ridge Methodist Church. If no babies are present, the nursery assistant will help in the Preschool class.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
· Demonstrates a positive, friendly attitude and cultivates a caring and safe environment for the parents, children, volunteers, and staff, reflecting God’s love for all.
· Provides age-appropriate care which includes feeding, changing diapers, bathroom assistance if needed, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children.
· Arrives on time and is dependable: Nursery care staff hours on Sundays are from 9:00 am-12:00 pm (worship service at 10:30 am). You may leave when all the children are gone and the cleanup is complete.
· Report any needs and concerns to the Children’s Ministry Coordinators and maintain clear and consistent communication.
· Reports time-off requests to the coordinator promptly, at least two weeks in advance of the time off requested.
· Maintain supplies in the nursery in a neat, organized, and orderly manner; clean the nursery
during and following use as needed. Follow all health and safety protocols as established by the church.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be 18 years old and able to pass a background check.
· Must enjoy working with children.
· Great communication skills
· Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs.
· Must have transportation.
